extremely laggy/slow

New Here ,
Jun 11, 2024 Jun 11, 2024

My After Effects is working very slowly; the entire workflow is lagging and hanging. When I need to move layers in the composition panel or adjust keyframes in the timeline, it lags extremely. My PC itself isn't that slow, but this problem is making it nearly impossible to work with After Effects.

Is there a solution

Welcome to 30 year old software which is built for single-core no-GPU devices, then updated around 2010 to suck up RAM and cache its frames uncompressed to make up for its lack of GPU usage and multithreading on multi-core CPU's.

You get what you get and what you get is this. Buyer beware. Also beware if you cancel your subscription early there's also likely a sizeable fee.

I suggest looking into a combo of blender, resolve, and nuke (yes, nuke has a free, limited version)

Hi there,

Would you mind sharing the following details so that we can understand the issue better?

1. What are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version) and the version of After Effects?

2. Are you working with multiple monitors?

3. Are there any third-party plug-ins installed?

Let us know, we're here to help.

Thanks,

Nishu
