i want to know if its possible to get layers to interact ,for example
of how a hand would pull a lever.
imagine one layer was a hand and the other layer was the lever.
you could place the hand as though it was grabbing the lever, then pick whip the lever to the hand
and from there , which ever way the hand moves, the lever will follow, on its own rotation point just as a lever would in real life.
currently i have to key frame the rotation of the lever from its anchor to line it up with wherever the hand is to try and give an illusion that the hand is pulling it, but that's all it is, an illusion ,and this is very hard to keep steady.
Short of buying the Newton plug-in to simulate physics based on real collisions this would likely simply require a somewhat more complex expression rig. It's a classic "constraints" problem as you would also have in a 3D program. You would have to define contact points using Nulls and similar and then match them on the hand and lever using e.g. a linear() expression to blend between the positions. Point in case: Just as much as it is a matter of AE not having native physics or rigging tools, it's just as much a matter of methodology.
