Hi everyone. I am having an issue with the color of my text in an After Effects template. It is supposed to be gold but is a multitude of flourescent colors (see screenshot). I'm new to AE and regularly rely on other artists templates to create the finished products I am after. I'm hoping someone out there will know exactly what the issue is. Oh and the templates creator doesn't seem to have any idea as to what the problem might be, which is frustrating. Many thanks, Reece

You are seeing color bars behind the text. This tells me you have some missing assets. Check the Project Panel, or start soloing layers until you find one with color bars and then right-click on the layer and reveal the layer in the project. Search for the missing asset on your computer. If it is not there, then contact the person that supplied the AEP file and get them to send you the file.

Just wanted to add you can also search in the Project panel for the word: 'missing'. This will highlight any other files that project might have lost a link to. Most of the time, colour bars make it obvious, but with matte layers, audio files and hidden layers, it can be harder to spot.

Hi guys,
Thank you so much for your replys! I'm so sorry to take this long to get back to you but had to go away for work and have only now had the chance to sit down and reply. Yes, the colour bars/missing assets connection makes perfect sense. I did email the creator who rather un-helpfully provided me with a link to another Adobe message board discussing the issue. I had a quick look and in a number of posts they mentioned a possible bug in the latest version of After Effects. So, I uninstallled the latest version of AE, downloaded an older one and that fixed the problem, at least for now.
Thank you again for your help. While in this case the cause might have been something different, your suggestions and advice demystifies AE a little more and makes it a little less daunting to play around with.
