hi! I'm a very new and beginner AE user also new to MacBooks so sorry if this doesn't make total sense or I'm not using the correct language.

i started a new project and cut my clips but every time I double click on the clip, the composition changes back to it's original state and then it shows clips I deleted. Also the audio starts the go in slow motion?? can anyone help me with this please!

When you double–click on a clip in the project panel it opens the Footage panel. The footage panel isolates and previews the source footage.

When you double–click on a clip in the Timeline (Composition) it opens the layer panel. The layer panel isolates and preview the source layer content. In this view any effects or animation you have added are hidden since those exist oly on the layer in the Composition.

Basically don't double–click on stuff unless you want to isolate and preview it. To select a layer so you can work with it you just click on it once. Remember, "you have to select it, to affect it".

The slowed down audio when you preview is probably a result of the way AE previews everything in RAM. Very often the first playback isn't in real–time. Once the green bar at the top of the timeline is displayed over a section of your composition, AE has that area previewed and it can now playback in real time.

What is it that you are trying to do in the composition?
