How do I morph shape into new shape without it crinkling up?

Hi, I'm trying to get logo (in the video below) to morph into a circle. I converted the .ai vector layers of the logo to shape layers and then I copied the path keyframe from a circle shape into the timeline for the logo layers to convert to. However, as you can see in this video, the logo shapes seem to crinkle inward and flip around before spreading out into a circle shape. Is there a simple way to get the logo to simply stretch out into the circle shape and not crinkle up at all?

For simple shapes, check out this thread: Morph in After Effects

 

You can also start in Illustrator, create a blend, expand, release to layers, and then sequence the layers. Here's a tutorial I did on that workflow a long time ago. I use this workflow a lot:
