How to create a transition effect like this

does anyone have an idea to how to make this kind of pencil transition?

Could be as simple as using a gradient wipe or for that matter even simple linear wipes before applying the hatching effect, give or take a bunch of tweaks like feathering and adjusting the hardness of edges with Levels or Curves effects. The only real trick is to split up the separate areas and prepare the artwork and pre-compositions suitably.
