How to deal with seem to be an uneditable layer

I am new to Adobe After Effect, watched a couple of youtube videos to get familair with the interface. Now I am trying to edit a template I got from envato. You can find it here https://elements.envato.com/quick-app-promo-VR5AKCL

The problem now is, for some strange reason I cannot edit certain part of the project. For example the logo part.

When the main composition is selected, you see the following.

But if I double click on the Logo composition so I can edit the logo, all I see is a blank composition area:

My guess is the logo is made with certain feature of AE that I do not know yet.

Anyone has a pointer on how to go about this?

The logo is a shape layer that has no corresponding source item in the project, being that it is a parametric layer type just like text. The logo is a shape layer that has no corresponding source item in the project, being that it is a parametric layer type just like text. However, based on the marker comment on the layer you are supposed to select I suspect that you would simply insert any of your own images/ logos wherever you want in the comp (at the bottom of the layer stack, most likely) and then it's copied over to the shape layer using an effect liek Simple Composite, Channel Combiner or whatever. I suggest you actually investigate that. Otherwise you can always try to copy & paste whatever effects and animation is applied to the placeholder to your own layer. It's just not clear what you realyl need to do since they offer no explanations on the sales page.

Thanks for the reply. I think what I finally did is similar to your suggestion. I just added an image and dragged it into the timeline to be the first layer. Doing that worked and I have my logo replacing the one that comes with the template.
