How to effectively MinMax CPU usage? (PC slows down but not always?)

I have been facing an issue with not only AE but Adobe stoftware in general where some days it suddenly decides to eat all of my Laptop's RAM without causing any problems, while others, it slows down everything. I dont know why this isn't happening all the time- sometimes a restart or a few fix the problem, while other times they don't. I have cleaned the Disk-Cache a few times as well, which also doesn't always help though. Just today I have been trouble shooting for the majority of the time, until, after one longer shut-down, AE ran smoothly again.

Admittedly, there is reason to spuspect that this could be an issue with the PC as a whole; but since I mostly use Adobe/AE software while using it, sometimes having the entire laptop crash, I thought I'd ask here first. Also, all drivers (CPU & GPU) are on their latest version.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
