How to replicate the effect "ground breaking" using shatter in AE

New Here ,
Jul 26, 2023 Jul 26, 2023

I'd like to replicate the effect from the first clip of the video. I think the effect "Shatter" is used from AE. If so, does anyone know how or point me to a tutorial?

Thanks in advance!
Pablo

That's not Shatter. That's a multi-level fracturing tool in a 3D program. Creating a simpler version of it would of course be possible with Shatter. I don't know of a specific tutorial for this particular effect, though, so you may need to refer to more generalized ones like the typical text shattering to learn the ins and outs of the effect.

The closest you are going to come just using After Effects is FreeForm Pro.

This is an old tutorial, but it shows how you can distort a layer in 3D space. You'll have to come up with a good displacement map.

You could also try Lockdown, also from AE Scripts, but the effect will not be 3D.
