I am not able to drag a composition from the project panel into a layer in the timeline.

I have duplicated a layer in the timeline. I then want to use the atttributes I have set up on that layer on another composition. The method to achieve this I am told is to drag the composition from the project panel  over the selected layer in the timeline. When I do this my AE 26.3.0 is only adding the composition as a new layer in the timeline, not nesting the new composition within the layer and updating the layer title with the new comp title as expected.

Try dragging while holding down the Alt/Option key.

The latest version of After Effects 25.1. After Effects 26.3.0 hasn't been released.

Yes I just found it on a YT tip too. It always takes a while to unravel the UI in AE.
