I don't remember CC page turn acting like this

I don't remember CC page turn behaving like this. I set the fold position and I'm not seeing any change. Also, it seems like I have to move the cursor quite a bit for the effect to engage? I'm using After effects cc fully up to date. Is there some kind of setting I need to change?

Without any info on your project and screenshots we can't really tell you much. From the sound of it you could be applying it to a shape layer or something and then the logic of the plug-in breaks since the layer size is inconsistent or something liek that. If you haven't already, try pre-composing. everything else will require better info.

Effects like CC Page Turn are based on the composition space instead of the layer's boundaries, so different layer types may require more or less movement of that "Fold Position" point. By default, it should usually curl up the bottom right corner to some degree, but like Mylenium mentioned, if you're using it on something like a shape layer, text layer, precomp with lots of empty space on the sides, etc., you'll need to move that point further to see the effect.

That seems to make sense. Sounds like I may need to make a separate composition for this stick figure then in oreder to ,ake the fold position closer.Screen Shot 2021-12-29 at 10.53.10 AM.png

The screencap helps a lot. I can only guess at where you're wanting this page turn to happen, but since you have the Fold Position wayyyyyy over there, I'm guessing you'll want to precomp your stick figure at the size of THIS comp.

With its current layer boundaries, it just doesn't exist over there to be affected.

I got down to the problem, simple really. I just reimported the AI file and chose "retain layer size. All of the objects were going with the size of the whole composition... Funny how such simple things can be overlooked.

Yes indeed! With both PSD and AI files, whether you import at layer size or document size makes a big difference!
