it does require a quick hand movement on windows unfortunately (which I suspect you are using). with today's SSD's the software is simply faster than you

here's how to reset your preferences manually:

go to

  • (Windows) \Users\[user_name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\[version]
  • (Mac OS) /Users/[user_name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/[version]

find the pref file that looks like this and delete it: (it will ha

Did you use that shortcut wile starting AE or how? If you did that - did tyou see a popup dialog box asking you about pref reset or not?
Please provide more informations and/or read that help file - it should clarify some stuff for you.
