K2 and K4 -format question

I have always made project in the 1920x1080 format.

But I now have a project that I will make in K2 or K4. To be a DCP for cinema in the end.

But when chosing the K2 format for a comp in Ae I get a little confused. maybe I am wrong ( probably ) but I would think the K2 ( or K4 ) format for cinema was a wider format. But this looks more square.for

So the question is. What is the K2 and K4 setting I need to work in when doing a project that will be a dcp for cinemas?

/ thanks
Mattias

The folks that run the theater should know what the settings are and who makes their projector. This information is really easy to find out, you just have to ask.

If you are produce for cinemas you need to get the specifications from them. AE's presets are standard frame sizes, but your Director may be envisioning a different frame aspect ratio. There's a lot to learn here but the only way to know for sure is to ask the folks that are going to arrange distribution for their exact specifications. Expect specs for Frame Size, audio, color levels... There is a lot more to making a film for cinema distribution than just picking a frame size.

Thanks Rick,
Yes I guess there are different settings. In this case it´s just a short film that I will direct and animate myself that will be shown on a smaller cinema. I guess I will have to make a test and see how that works.
At the moment I was just trying to get the basic frame settings right. I think the other things can se adjusted later.
