Hi all,

How could I pull a high quality Chroma key without any third party plugins e.g. primate etc.?  Also is there a way of  chroma keying without Keylight or is that impossible?

Any Help / Advice will be much appreciated....

There is always a way to do that all depend on:
- how clean and good is your footage - that is the most important thing

- what exactly is going on in your scene

You can do a lot without keylight and you can do almost everything with keylight.

Lousy Lighting + Lousy Background + Lousy Camera = Lousy Chroma Key.  Even one of those three makes for a tough chroma key.

AE has chroma keyers other than Keylight, if you really want to use them.  But I don't know why you would.

Keylight is a high-quality keyer. It can do a fantastic job even with less than perfect footage if you take the time to learn how to use the software. You can't just pick a color and be done with any keyer. Please type Keylight in the Search Help field and carefully study the User Guide. There is a lot of good information there and you should also find some links to tutorials by folks that know what they are talking about. Most of the new YouTube tutorials I see now are produced by amateurs that don't really know what they are talking about. You have to vet your trainers. I spend a lot of time on the forum pointing folks to better solutions when they try and follow lousy tutorials.
