Layers not showing up in the composition.

Hello.

I am so new to AE that I barely know how to describe what I'm looking at, or how to describe it. None of my google searches have helped so far so I would greatly appreciate some assistance!

All I've done is download the app and start it. Shapes and PSD file imports alike do not show up in any way besides a bounding box. Another thing being after adding any objects to the comp, the background disappears as well. I have no idea what I'm doing...

Screenshot attatched below.

This may be the result of some things AE needs to do based on the GPU driver you have installed. Leave AE open for a few minutes and see if things show up. There should be a dialog that popped up indicating the GPU was doing something, perhaps that got dismissed?

Closing the program and opening it about three or four times was all it seemed to need to work properly. Not sure why, but we're good! Thanks for your time, all is well now.

It looks like you've zoomed way, way out so your composition is too small to see. The gray area in the main window is the space around it, and layers aren't visible outside the frame. Try zooming to fit using the menu in the bottom left corner of the Composition panel, where it says 6.25% in your screenshot.

Hi, thanks for the response. I'm zoom is set to fit, it was just a large comp at 4000x6500 pixels. While waiting I had closed down AE nad now have reopened and it is fixed... Not sure what happened, but thanks!

Hello. It has gone back to showing me nothing. I am simply trying to learn basic skills in this program. but I'm having to troubleshoot things I do not know how to describe. Some assistance would be lovely, as I am on the verge of finding a new motion design program to use.
