Linking from AE to Pr becoming unsuable.

1. Each time I open a premiere project with imported After Effects sequences, the link gets broken and needs to be reconnected. Often this only works when both AE and Media encoder are open.
2. Exporting to frame.io from Premiere with an imported AE sequence breaks the link and becomes "Media not found." Lovely.
3. Exporting from AE to Media Encoder DOES NOT WORK. I am forced to use "Render Que".
4. Exporting from AE to Render Que defaults to Quicktime with Pro Ress 422 that does not have an alpha channel, forcing me to select a different option and THEN go back to Quicktime with appropriate "Animation" output. Except this produces a .mov that is UNPLAYABLE inside quicktime.

These are seriously GROWING issues with Adobe. The workarounds to these bugs are making me use the products less and less and instead search for other solutions. Hope this gets fixed with all many updates I'm forced to do and update my projects along with it. When will you focus on the experience?

What versions of AE, AME and PPro are you using? Is it the same version across all products? If not, that's definitely the first thing I'd ask you to do.

Specifically on the issues:

1. Links should only be broken if the underlying files can not be found. Are the files moving? Are they on an external drive? Are there any more details that can help us help you.

2. Which link is broken? What media is not found?

3. If you're finding AE to AME export is not working, try restarting your machine

3. If you're finding AE to AME export is not working, try restarting your machine. In that case it's likely a dynamic link process has gone rogue and a restart of the machine should fix this.

4. The default output format has been H.264 for over a year now. But perhaps you've been migrating your preferences as you've updated AE so the older defaults are still being used. You can adjust the default output in the Output Module Templates to whatever you like though.

Also, you are correct that Apple has chosen to depricate support for the Quicktime Animation codec. This was an Apple change, not an Adobe change (and is one of the main reasons we switched our Render Queue default format H.264).

If you wish to export QuickTime with alpha channel to a a codec currently supported by the QuickTime Player you should select Apple ProRes 4444 (or ProRes 4444 XQ) in Format Options for the QuickTime format..
