missing files not showing up?

I recently moved a bunch of (PNG) files to another location on my computer which I had previously used in a project on AE.

When I open the AEP (Project File) and go to replace the missing files, the files I wanted to replace were not showing up in the location I saved them in.

I have renamed them and other things but still not showing up. I know it'd work if I saved them all as JPEG but its important they're transparent PNGS for the project i'm working on.

Can somebody please help me?

Since there's no fix for this previously-unbroken feature in AE, the workaround is to use the old way of importing image sequences into AE.  Don't use the new way first appearing in AE 2017.

Then interpret the frame rate as necessary, and use the Replace Footage command.

It's a bug.  No fix yet.  You need to use the workaround.

The obvious procedure should be as simple as replacing them from the new location but clearly you are seeing something off.

Have you navigated to the new folder via File Explorer to verify that they are in fact there?  Just curious if what you are seeing via after effects is different or if the files are gone, gone.

If they ARE there, are you in a position where you can copy them back to the original location?

I have the files that are missing i moved them to another folder when organising. I have moved them here there and everywhere and still a no show when importing to AE. If i go on my windows file explorer they're all there. But it's just PNG files that arent showing, Even files that aren't missing aren't showing because they're PNGS.

You have the pictures above of what you see when I go look for the missing files through AE.

This is a screenshot of just my file explorer where all the files show:

Ok, so, I'm seeing just 4 PNG files in that screenshot.  Are these the only files that are not showing when you try to import them?  Just trying to narrow down the extent of the problem.

And just to understand, the only files you seem to NOT see when you import, are the PNG files?

It almost seems that when you are importing them, they aren't being recognized or something.  Have you tried opening the file explorer like that and dragging them over in to your project window?  I'm searching for a work around for you at this point. If you can drag them in to after effects, then you could easily replace them where they belong in your comp(s).

Yes, the PNG files aren't the only missing files, the others are .mp3's and .mp4's which show up and let me replace.

I have tried the drag and drop and unfortunately it doesn't work and shows the cancel mouse when I try to drop them in AE.

And yes the PNG's are the only files that wont show up when i go to import/replace them.
