MKV support in After Effects 18.4 doesn't actually wok?

I've read in the changelog that apparently AE supports MKV files now, but I can't drag & drop them or add them through the import dialogue. I've tried both H.264 and H.265 encoded MKV files through Handbrake. Nothing works. Am I missing something?

MKV support is not available in the official release. It's available in the beta version: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/after-effects/using/whats-new.html
