Hi all,
Tried to do some Google / Adobe Support searches but I didn't find any confident answers on this. Making some MOGRTs for Premiere Pro in After Effects. I will supply MOGRTs as well as a modified AEP so non-Premiere users could use AE to render graphics out as they like. Two questions:
1.) For MOGRT compatibility: Does an AE 20201 (18.4.1) created MOGRT require Premiere Pro 2021? If so, is it anything PR build 15.0 or later? Or are there certain "checkpoints" in the builds that come into play depending on the AE build used? This was the closest I could find and it only goes up to Premiere Pro 2020 (14.x) and is primarily centered around Stock MOGRTs.
2.) For AEP project compatibility: Will my 18.4.1 created AEP open in any AE build 18.0 or later? Or, as above, are there certain build related checkpoints? I found a link to an article that seems like it would hold my answer from the "Supported File Formats" support article, but it is a dead link that just redirects to the Adobe Blog.
Was just hoping to get some solid info on this to be able to provide clear compatibility information. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Some of the newest features are not available in previous versions of AE or Premiere Pro. That goes for Project files as well as MOGRT's. I have never seen an order AEP that would not open in a newer version of AE unless it was back a bunch of versions. By a bunch I mean 7 or 8 versions.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for your response. I am mostly familiar with the general concept that older app versions typically cannot load newer versions of assets (projects/templates), and likewise, that newer app versions typically can load older versions of assets (at least as you say, by some reasonable amount)
Looking at the MOGRTs alone: I'm wondering if Adobe has put out any more precise documentation out there as to where the thresholds are, just because per that page I referred to, it's not always as simple as buckets of major yearly releases. For example, due to new MOGRT features that were added mid-year, Premiere Pro 2019 had two different stages of MOGRT compatibility (for 13.0 and 13.1) - same goes for 2018. But: 2020, not so much... and with 2021 I have no clue because Adobe hasn't updated that info.
While this document's reference to a "Compatibility Versions" seems useful, I haven't found a way to look at this in reality. For example, I can't look at a MOGRT I made and see what "CV" it is, and I can't find a spot to see what CV each version of Premiere Pro is compatible with.
I guess my point is, it'd be nice to see an updated list or table that says "Here are all of the apps and build ranges that supports each MOGRT version", and a way to look at a MOGRT you create and know it is of a specific version.
