Preview is White and Will Not Play

After effects was working perfectly fine, but I come back a couple day later to continue a project and the preview is only showing white. I am not able to play the video at all and whenever I move the time using my mouse It just becomes black then goes back to white when I stop moving the time. The timeline also will not load. This is similar to another issue that I have had in the past, yet the solution that I tried last time does not work.

I am using After Effect version 24.1 and this problem also comes with After Effects struggling to open and close as it just loads while saying "Program is not Responding". This continues to be an issue even after I clean the disk and cache.

It's a little hard to tell, but is there any chance you have solo-ed a layer?  That might explain the white screen (if the layer was a whie solid, of course).  And the black then white while scrubbing.  Solo-ed layers show as a white dot in the timeline icons next to the audio boxes.

Not playing suggests an issue with the graphics card to me.  It sounds almost like a "soft crash", especially with the "program not responding" message.  Could you try setting the project to software only and see if that helps?  Also try a new project and minimal comp and see if that previews correctly.

The white box is no longer there and now it is just the same color as the background. I dont believe that it is a graphics card issue though. It's not struggling to open anymore and is actually opening quite fast. I am also able to open the project file and go back to the home page with all my projects quickly but only when I go back into the project file a second time then it freezes up. This also happens if I were to try and open a project using my saved files and when I try to open a new project.

Also the only way for me to close after effects when it freezes is to alt-f4, but I'm not sure if this is anything noteworthy.

Ok, so I'm not exactly sure what fixed it, but when it did fix the last thing I did was collect the files from the project and then put them into a new project. The weird thing though is that after collecting the file, the old project started showing the preview again so it might just be collecting the files. Other things I did was clearing my RAm cache and reinstalling my drivers.

nevermind it isnt fixed
