i'm trying to save an s_shake with keyframes as a preset but when i apply the preset to a clip it's just the default settings but the keyframes are still in it.
Without any info on what properties you actually modified and other details nobody can tell you much. Simply sounds like you didn't really select the properties. It's a common mistake to assume AE would simply store all properties, regardless of what their values are, which isn't the case. Animation presets are actually pretty smart and you explicitly have to select stuff that you want to be included in the preset.
