Hi,
I wonder if someone might have any ideas here. I render from AE through Adobe Media Encoder and have never had issues before. Suddenly I have a project that fails immediately after rendering begins. The only error it gives is "Could not create the output. Please check if the output is read only or locked."
The project only has assets from AE or Adobe Illustrator, there is no video footage. I have tried rendering a bunch of sub comps from the same project and the same fail happens. I've tried all the steps at this link but no difference - https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/kb/after-effects-composition-export-error.html
AE and AME are both up to date. I actually uninstalled and reinstalled AME which didn't help.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated,
Thanks,
Frank

That message implies the location you're trying to render to is a folder or drive you don't have permission to add files to. Can you try changing that location?
If that still fails, a workaround would be to use the render queue in After Effects. If you render out a Quicktime video with Apple ProRes codec, all the quality will be retained and you can then convert the video to MP4 or whatever you need in AME separatetly. You can also render an H.264 MP4 directly from the render queue, but I didn't know if that was the format you wanted.
