Replacing footage places the clip at start

Community Beginner ,
Sep 10, 2018 Sep 10, 2018

So I have a solid that I want to replace which is at 4 second time mark and ends at the 5 second time mark.

I want to replace my footage onto this solid, but when doing so will cause this to happen:

Before:

before.PNG

After:

after.PNG

The footage I'm replacing is placed at the start rather than where the solid is, how can I replace the footage

so that it starts where the solid is?

Thank you for your help!

What does this have to do with anything that was asked?

And it sounds like it was written by an AI.

Im general:

1. Select the layer on the timeline that you want to replace.

2. Alt + Drag (Win) or Opt + Drag (Mac) a piece of footage (something in your Project panel) onto the selected layer's name.

The new layer will be placed where the target layer was on the timeline.

I was just doing this a couple of minutes ago and it was working for me so if it can't work for you you may want to try resetting the application preferences.
