Here's something I'm not getting ever after trying to figure out why it's happening. So I'm working on a cutout animation for one of my classes and all I really need to do is move and rotate body parts. This only started now but whenever i use the rotation tool it's inverted, or just going the opposite direction of my mouse. To put it in perspective if I'm turning something clockwise, its going counter clockwise (rotate object up but it goes down instead and vise versa).
Any tips or reason as to why this is happening? It's really annoying

Without any info about your project, your computer and so on this is not going anywhere. From unexpected (but correct) behavior with gimbal lock on 3D layers to parenting issues to something stupid like using a wrong auxiliary 3D viewport to ultimately genuine issues with the new 3D gizmos in CC 2021 this could be anything. You have to be much more specific and give us something to make sense of.

It happens when you manually 'invert' the scale property and/or parent one layer to another with 'inverted' scale.
So your scale property looks like this:
and you have layers parented for example like this:
In this case when you try to rotate 'shape layer 2' the rotation tool will be 'inverted'.
Hope it makes any sense 🙂

I know why this happens but there's any way to solve it? I'm having this problem for years and they never fixed it. So frustrating.

Hi SorprenDante,
I think this is working as designed. If you want the behavior to be changed, create a post about it in the Ideas section of the community.
Let me know if there's any else I can help with.
Thanks,
Nishu

Thanks, I will create a post about it. I don't think that this is working as it should, because this inverted rotation when parenting a layer to a flipped layer didn't happened on After Effects 2020 and previous versions, and I don't see the benefits of this behavior happening on newest versions.
