Roto Brush crashes AE

The Roto brush tool crashes after effects quite often in V22.6. It's becoming unuseable. I tried opening new AE files with just a single clip and click the roto brush once & it'll crash; I've tested it with different clips, & with Mercury GPU acceleration (CUDA) & Mercury Software Only

NVIDIA 3090 GPU
128GB RAM
working on SSDs only 
Windows 10 64-bit

What is the file format? MP4 files are problematic. If tht is the case, try to transcode into any other format. like Quicktime ProRes or DNX.

Thanks Jose, I've been having problems with .MOV Pro Res & RED Raw footage strangely

What is the size of the original footage? Have you tried to convert it to a proxy format?

Thanks, The RED footage is the raw 3840x2160 & the other seperate Pro Res .mov footage is a proxy of 12288x6144 of several RED cameras stitched together. Two seperate projects both having the Roto brush Crash AE

Try generating proxies and then use the tool.
