Slow and laggy response time UI

Community Beginner ,

Hey guys, I'm currently having issues with my AE. Every time I want to do an action, like erase, or move the background, I have to wait for about 3 seconds for AE to respond, even then I'd have to repeat the same action several times before it does what I wanted it to do. Not just images that I get extreme input delay, even in settings of AE is laggy and extremely delayed.

My specs are as follows;

I-5 6400

Radeon 470x

1 Tb HD

500gb SSD

I've tried moving the cache to the SSD but it doesn't change anything, I've tried disabling hardware acceleration but that doesn't do anything as well, I switched between Mercury GPU Acceleration and Software Only but those don't seem to work either. If you have any suggestions or an answer to my problem, it would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure your AE is installed on SSD. If you are using the same SSD for cache, or using HDD for cache it will probably be rwally slow. For AE and PR you need one SSD for RAW Files, One for Cache, And one for finished content. If AE is storing cache on the same SSD as the files then its reading and writing on the same disk. HDD are very slow as well you may need another SSD for cache. I use a 500gb SSD soley just for cached files.

Sorry for the late reply! It happens on all projects, new, old, or not compositions as well. The UI is just insanely laggy even with nothing loaded up.

I don't think it's an SSD problem, you do something else, check your activity monitor maybe some other application block AE to work properly, be sure to stop everything run in the background also check if you have any GPU driver update, finally try to reinstall AE

Well, unfortunately, I have updated all my drivers, and GPU drivers needed and monitored my background process to make sure nothing is running, and finally reinstalled AE however, my AE is still painfully laggy. Thank you so much for your help though, I may need an SSD.
