slow import when dropping files from Explorer vs.import

Have anyone else noticed that Importing files through drag-drop from an explorer window takes a lot longer than importing? It wasn't like this before but I have had this for quite a while on multiple machines. Is there anything I can do to improve the speed?
WHen using import, loading jpegs for instance is near instant. Drag it from explorer it spends time on each file.

Yeah, I've noticed it, too.  I guess it bugs you more than it bugs me.
