Hi all
First time poster with very limited knowledge of system requirements etc so would love to hear from an expert or two.
I am a training manager for the company I work for and specialise in producing elearning courses. I primarily use a programme called Articualate Storyline but more and more I am using AE and Premiere to create our own content.
I find AE is very slow on my current machine. I especially suffer from buffering during previews. I've been looking at how I can change my own settings etc to improve performance as I am sure I can do better there. But I have also convinced the company to get me a more powerful machine. I've been asked if the following will work well. I've looked at the minimum system requirements but if someone wouldn't mind casting an eye, any advice would be appreciated as I am outside my comfort zone!
CPU: i7-8750H – 6 core
RAM: 16GB DDR4 2666MHz (we upgraded it from 8 that it says below)
Storage: 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD
Graphics: Nvidia 1050Ti 4GB

apologies for the basic question but thanks in advance for any advice
I recommend a desktop pc rather than a laptop.
- Highest clock speed you can afford, core count doesn't matter so much (4 cores at 5GHz are preferred over 6 cores at 3,2 GHz, for example).
- At least 16 GB RAM, 32 are better, option to 64 is preferred.
- 1 SSD for OS and software, 1 SSD for AE cache, 1 SSD/HDD for data. Use M.2 SSDs if you can, they are way faster then normal SSDs.
- GPU doesn't matter much, hardly used by AE at the moment, I would take one of the 10-series (1030 up to 1080) just t

Hi Martin
thanks for taking the time to respond. I think we have to go with a laptop due to travel needs but I have passed your comments onto our IT team. I think from their initial reaction, at the very least you may have increased my RAM from 16GB to 64GB so much appreciated!
