I was precomposing and remapping a little isometric turnaround of a car (shape layers, position properties, nothing too fancy). But when that precomp was remapped some frames seemed to be rendered out of order or a little jerky half-frame off. This happened most when working with the graph editor on the time remap property.
The good news is I was able to solve the problem by purging the cache. But, it seems like some frames are commonly getting stuck in the cache and it needs to be cleared manually after any update to the time remapping keyframes.

Hey ECAbrams,
Sorry for the poor experience. I'm moving this post to the discussions section to investigate this problem. Could you confirm your After Effects version again? Is it 23.5? Will it be possible for you to share a screen recording explaining the issue? That will help us in understanding and reproducing the problem on our end.
Thanks,
Ishan

Hey Ishan,
No worries! I'll attach a screen recording below. I hope it shows the situation clearly. You should see:
1. A nice smooth playback interpolating nicely between time-remapped frames
2. I'll change the colour of a shape layer inside the remapped composition
3. Oh no! There's some weird stuff going on! We now have a strange little bump or skip in the playback, and somehow the shapes don't really line up when nothing about their path or position properties has been altered.
4. I clear the cache
5. Everything is normal again
In version 23.4 this was not happening. And now, after an update to version 23.5 I have noticed this little edge case.
Again, I want to reiterate that clearing the cache manually gets things back to normal. But, previously, I did not need to be doing this manual clearing after updating a time-remapped composition and its contents.
I'll attach the work file we're looking at as well in case that helps the team!
Thanks and have a nice day.

Try setting your Cache size smaller. I use 30 to 40 GB. Big Cache files take a long time to clear, and it seems like they get fouled up more often.
You might also want to try changing the Preview panel settings and turn on or off Cache Before Playback and If Caching, play cached frames.
