Hi sorry to bother !
I know there's kind of a lot of question about this subject, I've read dozens of topics but none gave me an answer...
I tried to follow this tutorial : https://youtu.be/LDXD6j0760Y
The result is EXACTLY what I want, the only issue is that I just can't animate it, I tried Path animation, light as a source, null object or just Keyframing the emitter position...
At first I thought that the smoke wasn't even moving, but I figured sometime it does, just extremly slowly, it reach the position I indicated but with 5-6 second of delay or more, and not all the particules are following either...
I tried using preset from particular, a lot of them and I realised the issue was general, It seems I can't make this animation work with any type of particules or preset... I'm totally lost and I LOVE this result so much, it's so perfect for what I want, I'd hate to go back to particle world to do it the old fashion way...
Thanks in advance if you have any clue whatsoever.
BTW I need this effect for a futuristic gun, smoke coming out of the barel, but the character is moving his hand really fast up and down the screen and all, I need the smoke to be super reactive, when I was using Particle World I could do it very easily... 😕
It's really not clear what you mean since you haven't provided any info about your actual animation. It could well be that the motion is simply overriden by the internal forces because you're using very subtle movement. That's the crux of pretty much any particle system. Stuff that works on one setup not necessarily produces the same result on another since the underlying physics change. Anyway, you have to provide some screenshots and info about your stuff before anyone can guess what might be going on.
Yeah sorry for that you're totally right, I get your point and I guess it's only a physics setting issue, thanks for the answer, here's some screenshot :
Here's how I made it work with particle world AND the fire comes from particular (I found that it works with this sprites and presets) :
Here's the setting pannel for the smoke I wanna use, I tweaked it a little since, to thicken it, but it's essentially the same :
And here's a test I made, you can clearly see that the smoke is here but it scatters in strange ways and don't follow the path as well as the other smoke from particular world :
I hope this helps ?
Yeah, pretty much what I suspected, just in the opposite direction. Your emitter "explodes" because the motion is too fast and the particles don't compensate for it. Your entire motion happens over 30 frames judging from your images, which for such an effect is nothing. You have to either massively crank up the emission rate (and in turn all of the other parameters) or play around with viscosity/ drag. Perhaps you can also cheat it with dialling down the Physics Time Factor, but that may entail extra tweaking, too.
Thanks a lot ! Due to time constraints I've choosen to go in another direction and just change the smoke type and used particle world for this project, I tweaked and mixed a little bit of everything to be honest xD, the result isn't as smooth but it's okay I guess.
But later tonight I'm gonna go back and test again on this particular type of smoke and render I want, I'll apply your suggestion and come back to tell you if it worked, thanks for the advices !
(I didn't say it earlier but sorry for the many mistakes and errors in my texts, English isn't my native language ^^).
