Trying to Make a Top Mask Animate to Drift Upwards

Hello Community!

Scenario: I Have a Lower Layer of this Black/With Open V already set. I imported another of the same Black/with Open V, but I am unsure how to make it slowly drift up, closer to the Diamond edges as the diamond disolves.

I think it may have something to do with Masking & Keyframing. 

Question(s): Am I on the right track, and What should I do next?

Realized I can probably just add a layer above the black diamond cutout file of the same file, then just animate postion
