Hi guys, 🙂

What I have done
I have already made a DUMMY movie with a hand swiping on a phone. See attached.

What I need to do
The dummy is now approved - and now I have to make the final movie with a REAL HAND on green screen - with the app running inside the phone - and the thumb sometimes swiping the app.

How I thought of doing it
Film the hand on a green screen - and have the inside of the phone green screen as well. Then roto and mask accordingly and control timing via time remap.

Is this the best way of doing it? 🙂

This is honestly a case of "Don't bother with the real app!" Have whoever is developing the UI send you images or e.g. an XD design file and integrate it natively. This also avoids issues with the phone screen illuminating the hand and complicating the roto work, as effectively it can simply be turned off/ covered with a matte green foil or similar. That or you create a custom simulation packeage with the XD file and have it run on the mobile in place of the real app. solves half your problems without any convoluted extra procedures.
