I'm saving my project as an aep file so I can have it for future editing. Sometimes Adobe will kick me back to the original directory and insist I save it as an untitled project. If I try to save it anywhere else and give it any other name than the default of untitled, After effects will automatically kick me back to the original directory I was in when I started my project and revert the name back to the default of UNTITLED. What I have to do then is accept the defaults, close After Effects, manually move the aep file to where I want it with my mouse and rename it using Windows (right-click - RENAME). Doesn't always happen but whewn it does this is the only apparent fix. Any bright ideas? Be nice if I could do a video capture, however I can't make it happen, it does this at random. Thank you.

You have not provided any shreed of useful info like actual save locations, operating system, setup and configuration of your storage. Other than "There's a bug with external storage on Macs", which is a general issue Apple need to fix, I don't know what to tell you based on zero information.

Try saving the project in a different directory initially, then use the "Save As" function in After Effects to rename and relocate the project. Ensure your Adobe software is updated, as this issue might be resolved in newer versions.
