So I'm new to Adobe After Effects and decided to attempt to learn it, I move around a picture doing some keyframes and every time i move it even a little bit my RAM skyrockets until my computer literally freezes.
I've tried using the 2015 version assuming the latest version (as of this post) had a memory leak or something. It didn't help.
Thanks.

What format, size and resolution is your image? What color space are you using in your picture (CMYK or RGB)?

I use the preset "HDTV 1080 29.97" as for the color space, I'm not sure. It didn't show up in Basic or Advanced while making a composition.
Edit: It also doesn't go down from spiking up... I've watched it for 30+ minutes. (Of course I was watching YouTube as well. I'm not THAT MUCH of a loser.)

Can you post your machine specs?

Jose did not ask for the format, size and res of your composition but the format, size and res of the IMAGE which you are "moving around".

I'm asking for the image, not the composition. If you have an image of 12000x12000 pixels at 300dpi is pertecly normal what is happening with your RAM. But anyway, telling us the specs of your computer will help us to give you a better answer.

Specs are in this screenshot: http://prntscr.com/h5yjya
As for the picture I was moving, it's an 800x800 PNG Image. As for the DPI I'm not sure what that is but I'm pretty sure it's a lower level kind of thing.

Hmmm. Couple thoughts off the top of my head.
8GB isn't much in the way of RAM as far as AE is concerned, but it shouldn't be causing an issue like this.
So, you're saying you're having the same issue in an older version of AE as well?
Is this happening with one specific image, or any image?
Are you able to do other tasks in AE, or is doing *anything* locking it up?
Have you previously been able to do things in AE, and now you can't? Or this has been your experience from the beginning?
Have you checked to see if your video card drivers are up to date?
Do you appear to be having any other display or RAM-related issues?
In AE, under Preferences > Memory, what are the settings like in there?
It looks like you've only got one hard drive - is it super full?
Try Edit > Purge > All Memory and Disk Cache. Any improvement after that?

I'm going to go ahead and guess that it's my processor+ram combination, I'm getting an updrade to my Ram and Processor in the near future, so I'll mark this as solved and make a new thread if I still have the issue.
Thanks for all your help so far, though! ![]()

You should NOT mark this as solved as you are blindly guessing and have not even tested your assumption yet. Saying the the correct answer is getting a new processor and RAM may compel some other.....person....to go out and upgrade their CPU and RAM thinking it will solve a similar problem. The truth is you do not even know enough about what you are doing to be able to provide the information relevant to helping someone else solve your problem. If it's possible you should UNMARK this issue as solved until it ACTUALLY is. ![]()

100% in agreement with Gutter-Fish.
We're happy to help you try to solve your issue, but we can only work with the information you provide us. Please go back and work through some of the questions I gave in my last post - they will help us assess what's happening with your system.
