Have you looked to add a font which has the accents which you need?

Sometimes the glyph with the accent is included in the font you're using, but difficult to locate in the font.  While After Effects doesn't have a Glyph panel, Photoshop and Illustrator do and those can be used to find the character with the accent.  Let's say you find "ć" in font that you're using in the Glyph panel in Photoshop or Illustrator.  Create a Text Layer (Photoshop) or Text Object (Illustrator) that uses the character with an accent, double-click to actively select the character (or entire word or line) and then copy and paste that to the text prompt of a Text Layer in After Effects.  Character panel settings like the font being used and things like Fill Color are maintained when we copy and paste text between these applications.

More on how to use the Glyphs panel in Photoshop is available here:
Adobe Photoshop User Guide > Glyphs panel overview

More on how to use special characters in Illustrator is available here:
Adobe Illustrator User Guide > Type > Special characters

If the character with an accent is not part of the glyphs for the font that you're using, you may have to create it manually.  For example, let's say you need "ć" but the font you're using only has "c" and "`" (the grave accent).  Create a Text Layer in After Effects typing the "c" that doesn't have an accent.  Then create a duplicate Text Layer with just "`", changing the Scale from 100, 100 to -100, 100 to flip it horizontally.  Then change the Position so that it is directly above a "c" that needs it.  Repeat this as often as is needed.  And yes, this approach is clunky and takes some patience.

Another option is to modify the font your using such that it has a glyph for "ć" with a font design application like FontLabGlyphs or Glyphs Mini, FontForge, etc.
