The concept of generative live tracing in video content, accompanied by AI-powered recoloring of the output, enables users to create seamless and consistent animations with stable color palettes derived from video sources.

Inspired by the recent demonstration of AI-driven recoloring of vector art at the Figma convention, the notion of applying this approach to videos within After Effects sparked intriguing possibilities.

Colorists have been utilizing Look-Up Tables (LUTs) for many years, and the idea of adapting and fine-tuning the outcomes of live tracing dynamically adds an extra layer of fascination to the process.

Unless AE gets a much better mask system, that's probably not going to end well. The AI can create all the fancy masks it wants, but none of that will do anyone any good if it's slow as custard. AE can't even handle a bunch of conventionally traced masks that well and locks up with complex stuff all the time...
