Make All Effects 32bit Compatible

Participant ,

I use After Effects for compositing my 3D renders, and I always export 16 or 32 bit EXRs, starting to use ACES. Unfortunately, many, many effects are still only 8 bit, some support 16, and some can do 32. If you don't want to lose me and many other compositors (at least those that are left), please update more effects to 32bit!

You could update all the effects to make a precise compatibility between them and 32 bpc footage and compositions.

Would be nice to work with 32 bit footage and not clamp values when trying to use some effects, namely Liquify.

It would be great to see all of the effects able to render at 32-bit color depth. (I have no clue how big of an ask that is, but it would be nice to simply know that you can set your color depth as needed and forget it.)

All the distortion tools should be usable in all colorspaces, but this would be a start

Especially as people adopt ACES as a workflow, this is much needed.

Yes, please!!!! I understand that's probably quite a feat to update all effects to 32 bit (or at least most of them) but being able to work in 32 bit is necessary in compositing nowadays.

What do you say to the AE ACES Workflow? 😄 ...I think 32 Bit Effects are by far not enough. What is with a new and modern color management system, with 100% GPU Support?

Agreed! Mesh warp, CC composite, Liquify, Extract, 4-color gradient, Vector Blur plugins (amongst others) have been crucial for my compositing workflow, but still don't have 32 bit support.

Hi guy's

You really need to upgrade all the inbuilt tools like Bezier warp/match grain.mesh warp etc to 32 bits

Honestly its impossible to work in linear .

If I apply Bezier warp on an image at 32 bit it automatically clamps the color for some bizzare reason.

Same goes for Mesh warp.

Ironically the corner pin effect is fine at 32 bits

Adobe..You guys really need to fix this

it's 2025 version already and we still don't have all the effects in 32bits. It is very contradictory that you have implemented the ACES workflow but if you apply some of the basic effects, like bezier warp or add grain, you lose all its benefits with clamped values.

Hey Adobe - summer’s coming up so it’s a perfect time to grab some eager developer intern and have them upgrade all the *effects* in After *Effects* to 32-Bit. The fact that in 2025 there are still native, ship-with-the -software effects that clip high dynamic ranges is unacceptable. Stop with the bells and whistles and fix the quality-of-life issues.

Thanks,

Why are we still having this conversation in 2025?? Come on Adobe and get this sorted. It should be an absolute priority. I can't even use basic effects like Motion Tile???? MOTION TILE?!!?!?!?
