Hi, I am a Mac user, and I am using a pretty new version of Catalina and I just downloaded after effects 2020. However I am unable to open it. The startup screan shows, and then a popup that says warning unkown exception. If I click ok on that opoup the whole program quits. It will never get further than what is shown on the photos I attached.

I tried uninstalling/ reinstaling the progran and that did nothing. I have read similar posts with them uninstalling fonts? I don't know how to do that or where that might be located. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The problem is fixed. There was a fon't messing it up it was just on my creative cloud appliatoion and not my main desktop. If you open the creative cloud application. Go to fonts and click active fonts. For me it was Myriad Pro since as soon as I deleted it. I also rinstalled the program after I did this and the program opened just fine.

Hi Terribithia5F91,

Sorry for the crash issue with After Effects.

As you mentioned, users are able to resolve this issue by removing faulty fonts. You can try validating fonts and remove the once with the issue. Here's how you can validate: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-validate-fonts-with-font-book-2260821

Let us know if that brings any change.

Thanks,
Nishu

Hi,

I validated all the fonts on my computer and none of them were flagged to have any issues. Any other suggestions on what could be the problem could be?

Try to install some older version and check if you will get the same error.
