After Effects keeps saying "Not responding" on my Mac

My after effects keeps saying "Not responding" on my Mac. The rainbow circle loading mouse spins which means it doesn't respond. I've installed the app and It didn't work and I also got a higher version of AE and it didn't work. help? I think something is wrong with my computer but idk what.

What kind of Mac are you using and which OS are you on?

Are you able to launch the app properly or does it freeze on launch?
Do you have any third-party plugins for After Effects?
