hi!

Trying to run After Effects from the command line in a batch file at startup. But the command doesn't work unless we have an RDP connection into the server. Tried using the autologon tool from the Microsoft documentation to log in automatically at start up but AE still won't open

we want to keep our acocunt logged in, so everytime the server starts automaticly, the command for AE will start without Login in each time

your Help will be appriciated!

External server use is not covered by the license to begin with, so you may technically be attempting something that is out of bounds and the rest simply depends on the specifics of your EC2 config, with the key point likely being that until you actually log in, there is no fixed binding to any particular instance of the (virtual) server. You know, it's called "elastic cloud" for a reason - something that is supposed to scale dynamically. You never know which actual physical resources you end up using. Either way, the answer is not in the Adobe world beyonbd straightening out the licensing issues. You have to dig into your server configuration and figure out how to create a fixed binding and user authentication, if that's even possible.

Hi Mylenium,

You are incorrect about the elastic cloud, there are always enough resources available and you can even have dedicated instances.

We launch thousands of instances in a blink of an eye for just a few hours specifically for rendering After Effects Projects.

About the licensing: I checked with Adobe, we are allowed to run the command line renderer on as many instances/machines as we want. Just make sure After Effects is in Render-only mode, this can be done by placing a blank text file (ae_render_only_node.txt) in a specific folder (C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe) see automated-rendering-network-rendering

This can be done by enabling auto login upon boot and using task scheduler to run a batch / powershell command upon login.

Make sure you give the script a little bit of time for the whole OS to load and all resources to be available (e.g. attached storage).

Logging the output of your shell commandline script (e.g. to a text file) will help you see what happened after the boot until you logged in.

If you need help, let me know!
