Hello fellow Adobe users :),

So for the last couple of months I have been trying to update my After Effects past 17.0.5 but it just doesn't work. The error code is 189 which means that I have no space, but I am able to update all my other Adobe programs. My map location is on the D: disk which isn't even 50% filled. My C: disk is full yes, but I am not using that disk anymore for Adobe.

Can anyone help me with this please?

Thanks! 🙂

It looks like a permission problem, so check the read/write permissions in your hard drive before trying the next steps. If not:

1.- In After Effects, go to Edit > Purge > All memory and disk cache to remove any previous stored cache and free some disk space
2.- Remove After Effects preferences. To do it, press and hold CONTROL+SHIFT+ALT as soon as you open After Effects. You will be prompted to delete your preferences.
3.- Try to update the app using the Creative Cloud desktop application

If this doen't work for you then:

1.- Uninstall After Effects using the Creative Cloud Desktop App
2.- Install it again. This should install the latest version 17.0.6

If the previous steps doesn't work then the only thing you can do is a complete unistall of Creative Cloud apps using the Adobe CC cleaner tool. Follow these instructions: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html. Then install them again

Reïnstalling After Effects and changing the install location did the trick!

Thank you!
