I tried to open adobe after effects today and it gave me an error message saying:

"the code execution cannot proceed because concrt140.dll was not found"

It suggested that I try re installing the app, which is what I did and nothing changed. I tried restarting my computer as well, still the same error. I then did a google search and it told me I needed to download a concrt140.dll and drop it in the windows system directory or in the after effects folder. I tried that and then I started getting a different error message:

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)

So then I took that concrt140.dll file out and I'm still getting that same error message and still unable to open after effects... Anyone know whats going on??

Please let me know what information you need about my system to solve this problem and I'll get you that information. Thank you

Just dropping a DLL somewhere does nothing. You need to register it with Regsrv or by correctly installing stuff, which probably is kind of the point here: You may need to manually uninstall the MSVC runtimes before installing updated versions. And of course the usual applies: Do all such stuff with sufficient user privileges/ as admin to avoid botched installs and leftover bits. In your case you may also want to have an excursion to Windows Update and your device manager. A ton of these issues boil down to botched/ missing updates and incompatible device drivers that install outdated versions of those DLLs.
