Just got a new 16" MacBook Pro, installed the latest Adobe Suite apps. All comp previews from files I've been working on my older laptop are showing up like this (see image) and I have no idea what to do. I've got deadlines and I need to be working on all these files asap but this issue is showing up with every file and comp, so not it's associated with a specific file or asset or link.

Appreciate the reply.
I changed the "Video Rendering and Effects" inside Project Settings from "Mercury GPU Acceleration (Metal)" to "Mercury Software Only).

Weird! I'm having the same issue, with the same machine. But that solution does nothing for me. Any other suggestions?

My specs are almost the same except for 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9. The solution worked only once and now it's not working again. This is really frustrating.

I'm having the same issue on my MBP 16-inch. Does After Effects just not support the new laptops yet? Just not being able to use hardware rendering doesn't seem like a vialble solution long term.

I take it back, everything worked for one long session. Closed the app yesterday, opened it today and the issue is back again. Trying the Mercury GPU on and off did nothing.
@Rick_Gerard is there anything else we can try? Maybe with more detailed steps if you can? Thanks

Mine seemed to fix when I selected the default layout in the upper right hand corner.

I just noticed that too, seems like it's more of a bug /glitch than a CPU/GPU thing. This is so odd. I'm gald that I can at least go back to work! Thanks @soundtankdrew

I am having the same issue. Standard, effect and paint workspace seem to be ok (I haven't tried any workflow in depth), but the others are not.
