Displacement (map) only affecting a small area

Hi all

After following an online tutorial (to the letter - I think) I've managed to create the effect, but only affects a small rectangle in the centre of the image:

Here's the map:

Here's the settings:

Comp set at 1920x1080

Note: created the map in AE, also exported then re-imported as a bitmap to see if the problem was the AE created map

Your Displacement Map Target Layer is smaller than the original image.

Ahh, I see. Actually it was the other way round really. My original image was larger than the Map Target Layer

I didn't know the resolution of the original was a factor, resized the cat to 1920 and works fine now - Thanks!

You could have also pre-composed the cat layer and applied displacement mapping to the nested comp.
