Hi all,

I'm struggling to find out how to add a new face image to a tracked mask in After Effects. I've tried tracking the face movement but it doesn't track well, so instead I used the Elipse Tool to track a mask. I now want to paste over that tracked mask with an image but can't figure out how. Please help! Thank you!

What you can do is to use the Face Tracking (Detailed Features) option. This way, you will get a lot of keyframes position for a lot of the face parameters (nose, mouth, eyes, etc). As soon as you can access those keyframes, you can copy and paste it into the new face image or use expressions to link the position to any of those animated parameters.

Another way to do it is to create the track and the mask using the included Boris FX Mocha AE plugin. It is a powerful track and mask tool where you can create masks and tracks easily and use this info inside AE. The tracked data can be extracted and used over any of your composition layers.
