Mac freezing and not waking from sleep if AE is open

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem? After opening my Macbook from sleep I can hear the computer is on and the HF mouse click works so it seems the OS is still functioning, but I just get a black screen and can't do anything. I have to force restart.

It's taken a while to track this down but I'm pretty confident now that it's AE causing this as I've only ever had this problem when AE was running before entering sleep. I'm still using High Sierra (due to bad experiences upgrading to Catalina on my iMac!) so this might be partly to blame.

Hi timf67444172,

Catalina was a bad experience for me too.

To resolve this, back up to an external using time machine.

Do a fresh install of Catalina.

Restore your backup on Catalina from Time Machine
