Opacity animation looks choppy

So I animated a layer from 0% opacity to 100% so that it slowly fades in but the thing is that it doesn't looks smooth instead it looks like it hops to the next percentage each frame or something. Even when rendered.

Did anyone experienced the same and is there a fix?

Could you tell us at what frame rate is adjusted your composition?

My Composition: 2560x1080 at 23.976 fps. After Effects Version 17.1.2

When you playback, what is the frame rate that AE shows in the Info Panel? Maybe you are not getting realtime preview.
