Render keeps failing

Having massive issues with rendering - I am using AE 17.0.6 for the first time after switching from an older version

If I try and render inside AE it will fail halfway through, this is the error message I got during one of those attempts:

I've also been trying to do it through Adobe Media Encoder (which I have never used before since my old AE could do mp4 renders) and it won't connect to the dynamic link server, heres the error message for this one:

Really really stuck, about to throw my laptop out the window!!! Anyone seen anything like this before and know what could be causing this?

Start by disabling cache usage in the render settings. For anything beyond that you have to provide actual info about the project, its contents, system info, render settings and so on.
