Currently, I have a student account, but when I am on after effects, I do not have the option to access team projects, although everything I have read suggests that I can. Is there any reason for this?

What Team are you asking about? Is this the Team you are assigned to at school?
Whoever setup the Shared Resources should have a Link to give you so you can Access whatever they have Shared.
