Text preview extremely slow

Lately rendering text in preview has been absurdly slow. Not just a specific font. I even have to type slowly for it to register all the characters I want to type. It's never been an issue, even on this exact same machine with the same MacOS. Text is so slow, that I have to switch it off so I can animate and switch it on later, that's in a composition with just an animated box.

I have an iMac Pro, 10-core, 64GB, Vega 64X. Running the latest Catalina.

Well, have you actually considered weeding out your fonts? A single "bad" font even if it's not curently used anywhere can have all sorts of ill effects.

I haven't. Thanks, I'll try deleting all user installed fonts first.
